I never really thought about how my body fights off infections until last year when I had this string of colds and minor infections one after another, and it got me curious about antibodies. I started reading about how these proteins are produced by the immune system whenever it detects harmful substances called antigens, like bacteria, viruses, fungi, or even certain chemicals.

It’s kind of wild to think that even with all the research we have, our immune responses can still be unpredictable. Two people can be exposed to the same virus and have completely different reactions, and tiny differences at the cellular level seem to make a huge impact. It really highlights how much randomness and variation are built into biology, and why outcomes aren’t always easy to predict. It makes me think that observing patterns, being mindful of our habits, and staying adaptable is probably the most practical approach, because some things are just out of our control even if we do everything “right.”
